Prayer-Poem Notre Dame du Pilier

I know you—

under the jewels,
under the amazing outfit,
I know you.

This knowledge bubbles into joy.
You have no need of adornment,
but people fear your naked beauty.
I am too full of trust.

They surround you with stars
and mount lights above your head.
They crown you with jewels
and cover you with glitter.

We laugh, you and I.
Yes, it’s an incredible get-up.
Yet you can’t be tamed—
even by honor.

You allow it all,
while remaining unchanged.
