The Prayer for the Unity of Christians/Prière pour l’unité des chrétiens
Seigneur Jesus, qui as prié pour que tous soient un
Nous te prions pour l’unité des chrétiens,
telle que tu la veux, par les moyens que tu veux.
Que ton Esprit nous donne d’éprouver la souffrance de la separation,
de voir notre péché, et d’espérer au-delà de toute espérance. Amen.
Translation:
Lord Jesus, You who prayed that we would be one,
We pray for Christian unity,
The unity You envision, achieved in the ways you wish.
May Your Spirit help us to experience the suffering of our separation,
to know our sin, and to hope no matter what. Amen.
The Ecumenical Chapel
There is an ecumenical chapel in the cathedral that includes gifts from various churches around the wold.
An Illuminated Anglican Prayer given by the Church of England.
An Ethiopian Processional Cross given by the Coptic Orthodox Church
A Bible Printed in Amsterdam in 1723 given by the Dutch Reformed Church.
A Russian Orthodox Icon of The Benediction of The Veil of the Virgin. It was offered to the Cathedral by private donors and installed in 2007.
An Ecumenical Retreat (in French)
Blending the Ignatian Exercises and the Gifts of the Cathedral
The Chemin Neuf Community, in partnership with Jill, has in the past offered an eight-day silent ecumenical retreat. Retraite Cathédrale: Les Exercises Selon la Cathédrale (in French) will help you experience the love of God more deeply. You can also expect to discover renewed energy for service. Members of Catholic, Protestant, and Orthodox traditions pray together for eight days. Contact Jill for more information.
